How to Calibrate Your Pole for Accurate Measurements

When you're working in surveying or mapping, accuracy is everything. Even a small measurement error can affect your results. One common cause of such errors is a misaligned or uncalibrated survey pole.

In this post, I'll walk you through a simple step-by-step guide to calibrating your pole, so you can ensure your measurements are spot on.

When Do You Need to Calibrate?

If you are working in an open area with your device fixed in one position, try measuring the same point in four different directions. If you notice differences between the measurements, your pole likely needs calibration.

Step-by-Step Pole Calibration

1. Open the calibration settings

  • On the Device page, tap Inspection Accuracy.

  • Tap Antenna Parameters.

2. Set your pole height

  • Tap Antenna Measuring Type and choose Pole Height.

  • In Antenna Measuring Height, enter your pole height.

  • Tap OK.

3. Start calibration

  • Tap Pole Calibration.

  • Place the bottom of your pole on one fixed point.

  • Move the pole forward and backward to collect 50 points.

4. Repeat in all directions

  • Keep the bottom still.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions and repeat the same action in four different directions.

5. Finish and confirm

  • When you finish, a pop-up will appear: Calibration Completed!

  • Tap OK.

Test Your Results

Measure the same point again in four directions. If there is almost no difference between the measurements, congratulations — your pole is now perfectly calibrated and ready for precise work.

Accurate calibration ensures that your surveying tasks are more reliable and saves you from costly errors later. Keep this guide handy for the next time your pole needs a quick tune-up!
